I first met Vinícius Sgarbe during the RPC Trainee Project, perhaps 12 years ago—though my memory is as unreliable as my math skills! Even then, I was immediately struck by his talent, intellect, strong academic background, and sharp sense of humor.
Later, our paths crossed again when he worked at G1. We shared great conversations in the newsroom, in between productions, recordings, and the whirlwind of breaking news, which often feels like an imposed state of apnea.
I recall one particular encounter by sheer chance on Superagui Island. He was on vacation, and I was there alone, working on a report—just me and the camera. It was summer. Vinícius helped with filming, suggested shots, and even assisted with interviews as we walked along the open-sea beach with a group of locals. We exchanged stories, sharing where we were in life at that moment. Our conversations have always been meaningful—sometimes deep, sometimes light, always filled with laughter.
I have followed my colleague’s journey, which, over time, evolved into friendship. He has worked in cinema, writes with impeccable precision, embarked on spiritually driven travels, and built a circle of remarkable friends and professionals.
No words are truly adequate to express my admiration and respect for Vinícius Sgarbe. There is an unspoken bond that connects us, its origin unknown. Perhaps it is the flexible rope upon which the brave balance at great heights. Perhaps it is the chain that bears the weight of life. Perhaps it is an invisible thread—far stronger and more resilient than anything tangible or easily explained.
And, if you’ll allow me a moment of sincere sentimentality—I’m a fan of this guy.
