Platforms have 72 hours to present plan against violence in schools

Ministry sets a deadline for social networks to adopt measures against content that encourages attacks on schools.

Digital platforms have been given 72 hours to inform the Ministry of Justice about restricting content related to attacks on schools. The deadline runs from receipt of the notifications issued this Thursday (the 13th).

An ordinance signed by the ministry’s head, Flávio Dino, requires platforms to take the posts down immediately. The same document imposes active moderation of profiles and topics, plus a continuous risk-assessment system. Another section also requires that the recommendation “formula” be made public to the National Consumer Secretariat.

The companies are subject to fines and suspension of activities.
